Glouster Saturdy 25th July

Early and cold just about sizes it up for the start of this Run. Still, a few of the more hardy souls showed up at the BP Berro for a coffee before taking to the road for the drive to Glouster. Along the way we picked up George & Queenie, Jason and the kids and Brian Fox making 8 cars for the run. Just after we got there, Mick arrived in his Ford P/U to join Daryl, Brian, Michael, Jim and Peter.

About 100 cars were on show put on by The Mid North Coast Ford Owners Club. Also there was the Glouster Chill Out Day, rides, stalls Woodchopping, Pubs, and Jim and I got to go on Glouster Community Radio to give Chromefest a plug. How cool was that.

Heres a shot of Brian F on a bitterly cold morning with some of the members???? Thats fog in the background.

AGM July 2009 at Alan Ballards home in Jilliby

13th July 2009

On a cold day, 10 or so members met up at BP Beresfield for the tour south to Jilliby for this years AGM. with stragglers drifting in and others arriving from down south there ended up around 37 members present for the meeting and the substantial meal of Chicken, steak, sausage and salards washed down with copious quantities of tea, coffee or softdrinks. Of course follow this up with absolutly scrumptious slices of cakes and tarts which would break the resolve of any weight watching member. (I know I did)

The results of the voting are shown on the Committee page. Other matters to get screen time were the rewriting of the Constitution and Vintage Car registration and of course where we are up to with the planning of ChromeFest 2009 .

I must give a great big thanks to our imediate past secretary Janet Holmesby who stood down this year. She has been an absolute gem getting all those jobs done in the background so our club can carry on as it does. Good luck to Chris Sundstrom for the future as she is now our club secretary.

Shanons Drag Car Extravaganza -Sunday  26/04/09

On a windy sunny great looking day 19 of our club members met up at Newcastle Showground for one very interesting day out. The Australian Drag Racing Roadshow comenced with nine Drag Car outfits on show. You got to talk to all the guys and the drivers and even for some of the lucky ones, get into a drag car and try it out for size. I know I did, and it's a tight fit!

There was food too! Probably about 120 cars came out and were on display and a very good crowd of general public checking things out. At 12 0,clock all the cars were started at the same time and were given the full treatment. I recon the surfers on Nobbies Beach were wondering what the hell is that roar and started looking for the tsunami!!!!!!!!!!

Club members Dan Phillips and Michelle were there with their great set up with a funny car, a door  slammer and the 2 junior Dragsters the 2 boys race. What a great set up they have. The trailer being towed by a 29 year old Peterbuilt primemover all in black. Awsome!

Here are a couple of shots from the day. Check out the rest at www.calcruisin.com picture gallery

Baby-Boomers Bash, Forster April 3 & 4 2009

This is the third year for this event and is more a community event than a car run or rock & roll event. Having said this there is enough there of interest to keep everyone happy. Four club members were there, Brian Fox- Trans Am, Brian and Ily – m\Mustang, George and Queenie – Mustang, Anne and Graham – Firebird.

Friday and Saturday nights we went to Tuncurry Sporties and Tuncurry Bowling club where we were entertained by the Baby Boomers Band and Andy and the Cruisers.

On the Saturday we all attended the Motorfest Classic Car Show. About 110 cars were on show there this covered all makes and models. Club members did not walk away empty handed with George taking out Top American award plus two sponsors choice awards, while Brian Fox also picked up a sponsors choice award.

 Kurri Kurri – 27, 28 & 29 March 2009

Travelling up the F3 to Kurri on Friday it was raining, we hoped that it would clear up and that the weather would not spoil the club’s weekend. Before reaching the Kurri turn-off we came across a sad sight, Robert and Janis’s 36 Ford being loaded onto a tilt tray, evidently as they were travelling along they were overtaken by their rear wheel.

Once at Kurri the sky slowly cleared up and the weekend activities commenced. For the early arrival’ their was a sausage sizzle held in the Rotary Park, thanks to Noelene, Wayne and Anne for handling this. That night everyone headed off to Weston Workers where “No Brakes” provided the entertainment.

Saturday morning saw the setting up of the dance floor by club members and some how we ended up running the Saturday Show & Shine (this was the first time this event was held on a Saturday. There were stalls and music in the park to keep everyone busy. The Observation Run commenced at 11:00 and ended at the Denman Hotel were the “Hell Hounds” played. Almost everyone completed the run with little trouble, though there was a report of a black Trans Am heading up the New England Highway towards Singleton after missing a turn-off. Later at Rotary Park, for those wanted to wedding vows were renewed. Our Bob and Kate participated in this, Kate looked elegant as usual but Bob where did you find that suit and tie?

Saturday night there were dances at four locations and a Drive-In Cruise to keep everyone entertained. Club members were at each of these locations and made certain that everything ran as smooth as possible, special thanks to Janet, Jeff and those that helped them in running the Drive-In event at such short notice.

Sunday was the big day for our Show & Shine, in excess of 400 cars attended (final numbers still to be worked out). Congratulations to all those who attended the gates and organised the parking. Four bands were spread out from the Chelmsford Hotel to the western end of Lang Street and provided a wide range of music.

From what everybody said (both those that came for the cars and the dancing), it was a top weekend and the thanks should go to the club and its members who worked hard all weekend to ensure that all went well.

On 23rd April some club members went to a round of the Cruzin Magazine Nostalgia Dragracing Series at West Sydney International Dragway. Stephanie and Daryl Fox and family met up with Jeff and Janet Holmesby at the twin servos and drove casually down to the dragway. As we were in cars of the era we were able to park in the show area next to the pits which made things easier , after about an hour we were able to get Jeff to see some racing. There was a lot of interesting cars to see. There was a bunch of real quick cars on the day in hot rod, American muscle, Aussie muscle, FED's and pro classes. After an hour or so Jeff had to take the jackets back to the car or something saying he would just be a minute, about an hour later Jeff returned full of enthusiasm. We met up with Greg Harris and Mick Pace(Jim Beam pickup) as well down there. Some of the more interesting racing was the cars pulling huge wheelstands including one  XY Falcon scraping his rear bumper and chute. A really good day had by all and I heard Jeff and Janet may be going to the finals at Willowbank. He is keen. Next Sydney round is Dec.3rd.
